About Us

Anderson Plumbing Heating & Air is the new name of four companies owned by Mary Jean Anderson including Walter Anderson Plumbing, Anderson One Hour Heating & Air, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and Air best.

In 2003, Mary Jean Anderson, President, bought our her business partner when he retired from Walter Anderson Plumbing. Since then she has had the good fortune to acquire additional plumbing, heating and air conditioning businesses and hire some of their exceptional, experienced personnel.

Celebrating 30th anniversary we decided it was time to combine all of the companies under one name – Anderson Plumbing Heating & Air. We’ve created an amazing team of professionals and certified technicians. We offer only top of the line products and over the years we’ve developed a reputatio n for outstanding customer service. As the company grew, we wanted to consolidate our brand names under one company name that will continue to inspire confidence in our customers when they choose to do business with us.

In 1978, Walter Anderson founded his plumbing contracting business aptly named Walter Anderson Plumbing. His first location in El Cajon, CA and followed with a second location in Phoenix, AZ. Both locations struggled and the struggle wore on Mr. Anderson. As a result, his then-wife Mary Jean Anderson, quit her job as a nurse and got involved in the plumbing business. Ultimately they sold the Phoenix business and soon after decided to divorce. They remained as business partners for a time until Mr. Anderson decided to retire in 2003. At that point, Mary Jean Anderson decided to buy him out and continue to build the company.

Since 2003, Mary Jean An derson purchased a One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning franchise as well as a Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchise. Key to the growth of the company was the purchase of Air Best, a heating and air conditioning company known for exceptional employees and it’s exclusive agreement with Maytag to sell their heating and air conditioning units, perhaps the best on the market. When Air Best’s management approached her to purchase the company, she jumped at the opportunity.

Mary Jean Anderson’s success in an industry dominated by men has been chronicled in plumbing, heating and air conditioning trade journals. She serves as an inspiration to other women in the industry and is actively involved in the San Diego business community, serving on the Better Business Bureau board of directors. Her philanthropic efforts include many projects for home and building rehabilitation for worthy causes putting her company’s expertise to work for the less fortunate.

The consolidation of all of the companies under one name simplified all of the organizations internal processes as well as communications with customers and marketing efforts. In 2006 repainting all of our service trucks, changing over all of signage, forms, letterhead, business cards, you name it, took place. We had a big kick-off breakfast for our employees and gave them their new uniforms and raffled off a lot of prizes. Everyone has been extremely positive about pulling the whole team together under one name.

As we have entered 2008, we’ll be perfectly positioned to celebrate our 30th
anniversary as San Diego’s preferred plumbing, heating and air conditioning businesses.
